Conducting inquiries

The Inspector-General of Water Compliance can conduct inquiries into how government agencies:

  • perform their obligations under the Water Act 2007, Basin Plan 2012 and Water Resource Plans

  • put in place their commitments in intergovernmental agreements.

The Inspector-General can decide whether to start an inquiry or be directed to do so by the Minister for Water.

Our Inquiry Operations Procedure Manual sets out how we will establish and conduct inquiries
